Crystal Palace vs Bournemouth Preview

Crystal Palace gained a point on the weekend when they drew 1-1 away from home at West Ham in what as an all-London affair at the London Stadium but although that was an encouraging result for Roy Hodgson's side, it still means The Eagles have managed to capture just one win from their last seven games, while Bournemouth extended their unbeaten run in the Premier League to three games after drawing 2-2 at home with Aston Villa on Sunday.

The one win that Palace have managed to pick up in recent weeks was a 2-0 win away from home at strugglers, Burnley, but although The Eagles have picked up points in draws with Fulham, Nottingham Forest and West Ham, the hosts have also been handed four defeats within this disappointing seven-game period.

Losses to Newcastle United, Tottenham, Everton and Luton Town have resulted with Crystal Palace remaining in their current mid-table position of 12th in the Premier League table but interestingly, most of Palace's points this season have been achieved on their travels as they have won three of their four victories on the road.

Results on home soil at Selhurst Park have been disappointing though as Roy Hodgson's side have registered just one win to date in a 3-2 home win against Wolves but have drawn two and lost three of the other five games.

Bournemouth's mini revival in the Premier League under manager, Andoni Iraola, continued on the weekend as Bournemouth drew 2-2 at home with in-form fourth placed Aston Villa but it could have been even better for The Cherries as Villa scored a late equaliser through Ollie Watkins who rescued a point for the west midlands club.

Nevertheless, the signs have been encouraging for Bournemouth in recent weeks as the south coast club have recorded important wins against Newcastle United and Sheffield United in their last three games which has helped The Cherries move further away from the relegation zone where they now occupy 16th place in the table and hold a six-point buffer between themselves and the bottom three clubs.

Bournemouth had previously made a wretched start to this Premier League campaign though as the visitors failed to win any of their opening nine league matches of the new term and having suffered six defeats within these opening nine games, Bournemouth looked set to be early candidates for the drop.

A 2-1 home win against Burnley prompted a comeback for Bournemouth though and as they have collected three wins from their last five games overall, The Cherries stand a chance of a result at Palace on Wednesday night.
