Chelsea slumped to a third defeat in four games in the English top flight when The Blues were handed a 2-1 loss away from home at Wolves which followed previous defeats at the hands of Manchester United and Everton, while Crystal Palace's winless run in the Premier League was extended to seven games after a 1-1 draw at home with Brighton last time out.

Success has been sporadic so far in this season's Premier League campaign for Chelsea as Mauricio Pochettino's side have managed to register just six wins from their total of 18 league games played to date but despite also being handed defeats by Brentford and Newcastle United, Chelsea have also picked up recent wins against Tottenham, Brighton and Sheffield United as well.

Pochettino will be demanding more from his players though after The Blues produced a lacklustre performance against Wolves especially in the final third of the pitch where striker Nicholas Jackson missed a host of chances in front of goal.

However, Chelsea have posted back-to-back wins on home soil at Stamford Bridge against Brighton and Sheffield United and this may just spark another home victory for The Blues on Wednesday night.

Crystal Palace have continued their struggles in the Premier League as The Eagles' winless run in the top flight was extended to seven games following a 1-1 draw against fierce rivals, Brighton, in the A23 derby, and within these seven games, Palace have also slipped to four defeats as well.

Losses to Everton, Luton Town, Bournemouth and Liverpool have contributed to Roy Hodgson's side remaining in a disappointing 15th place in the Premier League table but although the visitors possess a six-point cushion over the bottom three clubs, recent form suggests Crystal Palace's buffer could be eroded sooner rather than later.

Crystal Palace have also struggled to pick up league wins in this season's campaign as well, as the visitors have managed to capture just four victories so far this term and interestingly, three of these four wins have been registered on their travels with wins achieved on the road at Sheffield United, Manchester United and Burnley respectively.

However, having collected just three away wins from their previous 12 outings on the road, Crystal Palace's chances of picking up all three points at Stamford Bridge seem to hang in the balance at best.

Although recent results have been pretty ordinary for Mauricio Pochettino's side this season, Chelsea have won the last 12 meetings on the trot against Crystal Palace and this domination over Roy Hodgson's side looks set to continue at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night especially as Pochettino will be demanding an improved performance from his side as they look to catch up with fifth placed Manchester City.
