Monday night brings us this all-Lancashire derby between Blackpool and Wigan Athletic when the two teams meet at Bloomfield Road with Blackpool desperate to avoid a fourth league defeat on the trot, while Wigan Athletic will be keen to avoid a third defeat on the bounce in League One.

Blackpool manager, Steve Bruce, had produced an almost immediate positive effect upon his new side when he took over the reigns at Bloomfield Road after Neil Critchley was dismissed, as The Seasiders racked up four wins on the trot which saw the hosts record victories over the likes of Exeter City, Charlton Athletic, Huddersfield Town and Burton Albion respectively.

However, Blackpool have experienced something of a speed-bump in recent weeks in the English third tier as The Seasiders have now failed to win any of their subsequent four games overall.

A 1-1 stalemate at home against Lincoln City was followed by three defeats on the trot at the hands of Mansfield Town, Barnsley and Peterborough United respectively and therefore the prospects of returning to winning ways hangs in the balance somewhat on Monday night.

The goals market appeals though for this upcoming local derby with Wigan Athletic as no fewer than seven out of Blackpool's last 10 games overall have resulted in both teams hitting the back of the net.

Wigan Athletic occupy two league positions and two points below their upcoming hosts, Blackpool, prior to this Monday night's local derby at Bloomfield Road having suffered recent back-to-back defeats at the hands of Cambridge United and Mansfield Town respectively.

The visitors have produced a mixed bag of results so far in this season's League One campaign as The Latics have picked up three wins, been involved in four draws, but have also been dealt five defeats to date this term within their opening 12 league games.

A disappointing start to this new season saw Wigan Athletic slump to three early defeats within their opening four games, losing to the likes of Charlton Athletic, Reading and Birmingham City, but The Latics have steadied the ship somewhat in subsequent matches.

Wigan have lost just a further two games in their subsequent eight league matches but although they have also recorded welcome wins against Bristol Rovers and Peterborough United, Shaun Maloney's side have also been involved in no fewer than four stalemates within this period as well.

Having managed to capture just three wins from their previous 12 outings on the road as well in League One, Wigan Athletic's chances of picking up all three points here on Monday night look highly unlikely as well, but five of their last 10 away games have also seen both teams score.
