Bristol City put an end to a previously worrying six-match winless run in the Championship on Saturday when they registered a seemingly unlikely 2-1 win away from home at Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium, while Southampton once again showed their automatic promotion credentials by beating Huddersfield Town 5-3 in an eight-goal thriller down on the south coast on the weekend.

Prior to Saturday's win up in the north-east, Bristol City had been struggling to find any sort of momentum and indeed form as The Robins had drawn three along with being handed three defeats which came in the form of losses to Millwall, Preston NE and Leeds United while points picked up against Birmingham City, Watford and Coventry City were overshadowed.

Southampton found themselves 3-2 down at home to lowly Huddersfield Town at their St Mary's Stadium on Saturday afternoon and with just 10 minutes remaining, Russell Martin's side's impressive and history-breaking 21-game unbeaten sequence looked to be in serious trouble of being halted by a spirited Terriers outfit.

However, three goals in these last 10 minutes plus stoppage time ensured all three points went The Saints' way and also maintained the visitors' second place position in the Championship table where they hold a slender one-point lead over third placed Leeds United.

Southampton will therefore be keen to not only extend their excellent unbeaten run but will be eager to add another three points to their tally with a win in the west country on Tuesday night and having now won eight out of their last nine games overall in the English second tier, Saints look in ominous form ahead of this encounter.

In addition, Southampton are unbeaten in their last 11 outings on the road in the Championship which includes picking up six wins in the process along with keeping four clean sheets along the way as well.

A shortage of goals may be on the cards though at Ashton Gate as eight of Southampton's last 11 away games have also resulted in Under 2.5 goals.
