PSV's seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions was brought to an end on Saturday in the Dutch Eredivisie when they suffered a 3-2 loss away from home at Ajax, while Girona picked up a second win on the trot in all competitions with a 4-3 home win against Leganes.

PSV have produced a slow start to this season's Champions League campaign having drawn twice and lost once in their opening three games of this new format, leaving the Dutch hosts in a disappointing 28th place in the table overall but still just a point adrift of the play-off places.

A heavy 3-1 loss away from home at Juventus in their opening game on Matchday 1 was not the sort of start PSV manager Paul Bosz would have envisaged for his side but the hosts have at least steadied the ship by picking up points following draws with Sporting Lisbon and French champions, PSG respectively.

The Spanish visitors have also picked up recent wins against Athletic Bilbao in the domestic top flight along with a 2-0 home win against Slovakian outfit Slovan Bratislava on Matchday 3 in the Champions League, but results overall have been fairly inconsistent.

Indeed, Girona began their first ever Champions League campaign in disastrous fashion as the Spanish side were handed back-to-back defeats on Matchday 1 and 2 by PSG and Feyenoord in 1-0 and 3-2 losses respectively.

The bigger picture shows Girona have managed to capture just four wins from their last 12 matches in all competitions and having also slipped to six defeats within this period as well, Michel Sanchez's side are likely to be facing another tough assignment at the Philips Stadion on Tuesday evening.

To emphasise this, Girona have registered just two wins from their previous 10 outings on the road in all competitions, slipping to six defeats in the process.
