King's Palace is a strong favourite here and has a great record for a novice, and has won over this distance twice at Cheltenham in October and December. Faugheen is a strong contender and a Mullins trained horse. Faugheen has a perfect record of 4 wins in 4 coming into this race, albeit all in Ireland.
Briar Hill has a perfect record with 5 wins in 5, including a 1st place at Cheltenham last year in the Champion Bumper at 25/1. However Briar Hill has not run this distance yet.
Captain Cutter has taken to the hurdles well in late 2013 with 3 wins. Captain Cutter could be a real threat here, as is Sure Reef. Sure Reef has won twice over the hurdles in December and January after an impressive turf record.
Deputy Dan has a little more experience over the hurdles at this distance and is another strong contender. Rathvinden lacks experience, but did finish 2nd at Cheltenham in January.
This is a very strong field of novices and on the day any of the above runners could pull off a win, so it's perhaps better value looking down the odds for a runner with longer odds here, rather than backing an obvious favourite.
WinDrawWin Prediction - Sure Reef To Win. Captain Cutter To Place.
