Vautour and Irving lead the betting in this opening race of the Cheltenham Festival, and with good reason too. Vantour comes into this race on impressive form, with 3 wins in a row on soft and good to soft going, and Irving also comes here with wins - 4 in a row, including wins on both good and soft going.
Wicklow Brave has a little more experience and loves the heavy going, with recent wins at Puncestown and Cork. Josses Hill has a chance here, and has shown good form winning at Newbury in December and a second place at Kempton in January. Faugheen has a perfect record with 4 wins out of 4, and has been run at slightly longer distances than the leading horses in the betting. Faugheen may be worth an outside bet here given more longer race experience. Valseur Lido is another Willie Mullins trained horse, and although has only been run 4 times, has 3 good wins. It's always worth a punt on a Mullins trained horse, so if you fancy some longer odds then Valseur Lido may be worth a shot.
Of the rest of the field in this novice's race, The Liquidator has a little more experience than most with 8 career races. The Liquidator could only finish 5th at Kempton in January on heavy going, but if the conditions are better here then could have an outside chance. Splash of Ginge also has a bit of experience with 10 career races, and seems fairly consistent too. At good odds, our tip for a place here.
WinDrawWin Prediction - Valseur Lido To Win, Irving and Splash of Ginge To Place.
