Hurricane Fly leads the betting and in an excellent horse, coming third in this same race last year and putting on a very impressive performance. Since then Hurricane Fly has lost only once and boasts a 67% career win rate. Hurricane Fly has proved in the past year that the heavy and soft going is not a problem too, winning at Leopardstown twice in December and January, and Punchestown in November. It is difficult to see beyond Hurricane Fly for a winner here and anyone would be brave to back another runner for the win in this race.

Zarkandar is Hurricane Fly's nearest contender. Zarkandar is also a very impressive horse and has performed well of late, winning at Wincanton in February and November and Cheltenham in December. Zarkandar is definitely a consistent runner and despite finishing 5th in this race last year, another chance to impress this year may see Zarkandar challenging strongly here.

Rock On Ruby is third in the betting, however won this race last year to the surprise of many. Since then Rock On Ruby has only been run 3 times with two places and a win at Doncaster in February. Rock On Ruby does not come into this race in the best of form, but last year showed that a surprise is always possible with this horse. Rock On Ruby may place here but with a career win rate that matches Rock On Ruby's place rate, we would rather back Rock On Ruby each way here if you really have to back this runner. Grandouet was not at Cheltenham last year and has recently made a comeback after not running since December 2011. However Grandouet is priced very favourably here and must be respected. Grandouet finished 2nd at Cheltenham in December and looked very impressive. Before this runner's long layoff Grandouet showed a lot of promise in 2011 and may be the dark horse in the field here. Worth a punt if the odds drift on this one.

Binocular finished 4th in this race last year and has only been run once since, finishing 3rd at Leopardstown in January. Binocular must be well respected under A.P.McCoy and at odds of around 10/1 is a good each way prospect given the jockey and performance last year. Cinders And Ashes comes into this race and steps up after winning the Supreme Novices' Hurdle last year at Cheltenham. Cinders And Ashes may be well fancied here and odds of 10/1 are tempting. Cinders And Ashes has only been run twice since that win at Cheltenham last year, finishing 2nd and 5th, but anything could happen on the big day and a place is possible with this impressive runner.

Countrywide Flame won the JCB Triumph Hurdle this time last year at Cheltenham and since then has been run extensively, with 6 races since Cheltenham last year. Countrywide Flame is a good all rounder, running turf flat and turf hurdle and has a career of consistent placing. Countrywide Flame is a strong performer that should not be ignored, running well on any going. At favourable odds Countrywide Flame is our tip for a speculative place here.
