Peddlers Cross goes out as favourite at 7/2 in a big field, but with good reason with a 75% win rate. Cristal Bonus and Sir Des Champs follow in the odds. Cristal Bonus has done well of late under Ruby Walsh, winning at Kempton and Chepstow in February and January respectively, although did not do well under AP Mccoy in its last two run outs at Cheltenham, finishing 7th and 5th. Sir Des Champs has a 100% win record (6 out of 6 wins), albeit running in smaller races and fields than this one.
Al Ferof and For Non Stop are both 6/1. Al Ferof is used to slightly shorter distances that this race, but has done well under Ruby Walsh, and has won at Cheltenham twice previously. Al Ferof is certainly therefore a threat in this race. For Non Stop seems to be consistent, but has a habit of placing, with only a 14% win rate.
Bog Warrior, Invictus, and Champion Court come in at 8/1. All have solid records, but may only realistically have a chance of placing with other quality runners in the race.
Of the rest of the field, Solix has a good record over this distance, and may be worth an each way bet. Silviniaco Conti is again consistent, but only for a place position.
Micheal Flips is an experienced 8 year old, used to running longer distances, and at 14/1 may be worth looking at to place.
