Grand Crus leads the field at only 7/4 in the betting in a race in which only a few runners have a chance of winning in our opinion. Grand Crus has been very impressive, deserving the favourite status. Grand Crus won at Kempton in December, and Newbury and Cheltenham in November, going out favourite in all three races.
Bobs Worth is second favourite at 4/1 and has stepped up to this distance well, coming 2nd at Ascot in February. However, it is difficult to see Bobs Worth posing a challenge to Grand Crus.
First Lieutenant is a reasonable contender, and may be worth a place bet at 6/1.
Join Together has been run at Cheltenham four times in the last 14 months and has performed well, finishing 1st in races in November and December. Join Together may enjoy the Cheltenham course and is experienced at this distance.
Invictus is not well tested at this distance so probably warrants odds of 10/1
Of the rest of the field at 14/1 and above, Sir Des Champs has won 6 out of the last 6 races it has been entered into, and is well worth and each way bet. Sir Des Champs does like the ground to be on the soft side though.
Bog Warrior at 20/1, as the name suggests, performs very well when the going is heavy.
