Fingal Bay is the hot favourite here at 6/4. Fingal Bay was not run at Cheltenham and comes into this race with a 100% record with 5 wins out of 5. Very impressive, and a strong horse. At 6/4 in this size of field it is apparent how good Fingal Bay is, when priced at only 6/4.
Cotton Mill is 4/1 and also has an impressive record. Apart from not performing well at Cheltenham, Cotton Mill has won 4 out of the 8 races entered. This is a step up in distance though. Cotton Mill is used to running 2m5f.
Tap Night is 10/1 and has been impressive in 2012, winning at Kelso and Newcastle. At 10/1 Tap Night is well worth a place bet here. Knock A Hand is 12/1 and stepped up to this distance handsomely at Newbury in February, winning in a field of 15. Again, at these odds Knock A Hand is worth a place bet.
Lovcen, Ballyrock, Golden Call, and Gullinbursti are all also 12/1. Lovcen was well backed at Cheltenham and performed well, finishing 4th. Ballyrock is a bit of an unknown, with only 3 career races. However, Ballyrock has showed a lot of promise and could upset the odds here. Golden Call has had two good wins at the 3m distance in 2012. 12/1 therefore seem a bit generous, and on the exchanges, odds of as much as 22/1 are good value. Gullinbursti has also had a couple of runs at this distance and has performed well.
In a race with so many good runners it is difficult to back a favourite at only 6/4 here. There is probably better value in backing a 12/1 shot for a place rather than Fingal Bay to win, or a more speculative bet on a longer priced horse to win this one.
WinDrawWin Tips: Lovcen to win. Knock A Hand and Golden Call to place.
