5.25 Silver Cross Handicap Hurdle (3m 110yds)

Gullinbursti leads the betting at 4/1 in a large field. Gullinbursti is a solid and consistent performer, and should certainly have a good chance here, but in a field of more than 20 horses it is hard to back a winner priced at only 4/1

Our Father is 8/1 and was well fancied going into Cheltenham, but could only manage 15th. However, Our Father has a good record pre-Cheltenham and should be respected here. One doubt about Our Father would be this race distance as Our Father has not really been tested in this length of race.

Cape Tribulation and Son Of Flicka are both 10/1. Cape Tribulation was impressive at Cheltenham, winning the Pertemps Final Hurdle. With a recent Cheltenham win and great performance, at 10/1 Cape Tribulation must be respected. Son Of Flicka also had an excellent win at Cheltenham, however only has a career win rate of 17%. Son Of Flicka is certainly one to watch and perhaps at this price is worth a place bet.

Spirit River and Veiled are both 12/1. Spirit River is not consistent enough to warrant even a place bet in our opinion, and fell at Cheltenham. Veiled is a better choice for a place bet at this price, finishing 3rd at Cheltenham.

Deireadh Re, Shoegazer, Palace Jester, and Volador are all 14/1. Deireadh Re had a good 2011, but has not been tested enough in 2012, so is a bit of an unknown. Shoegazer prefers soft or heavy going, and it is not looking likely this will be the case come race time. Palace Jester again likes the heavy going, and this distance may be a step up too far for Volador who is used to shorter races.

WinDrawWin Tips: Cape Tribulation to win. Our Father and Son Of Flicka to place.
